  "IVORY COAST RIOT "

“In the name of Jesus Christ. Pray for this country. Pray for this country for protection. Pray for the nation, Ivory Coast, for God to protect them, cover them. What I saw in the vision --- Open your lips and pray for this nation. Pray for the nation. A situation where there is riot and fight. Lift up your voice. Prayer. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray.”

This was the prophetic message that Prophet T.B. Joshua delivered during the live Sunday Service on January 18th concerning the nation, Ivory Coast.

On Sunday, 29th of March 2009, a riot occurred minutes before kick-off at the World Cup qualifying  match between Ivory Coast and Malawi, killing dozens of people. Nineteen people were killed in rioting which occurred at the Houphouet-Boigny Stadium Abidjan, Ivory Coast, just as the prophet had prophesied. Some 50,000 fans were packed in the stadium in Ivory Coast’s biggest city.

Let us remember the words of Prophet T.B. Joshua:
Pray for the nation, Ivory Coast, for God to protect them, cover them...Pray for the nation. A situation where there is riot and fight.”
Riots began some 40 minutes before the start of the game when countless spectators who didn't have tickets tried to force their way in to see the match. This led to the collapsing of the big gates and in the stampede, people were crushed. 19 died and 132 were injured. It was a chaotic scene as casualties were treated on the pitch and taken away on stretchers. Some fans, however, blamed the police, stating that the stampede was provoked by the security forces who threw tear gas canisters at them. It has been reported that the players were unaware of the fatalities until after the match had ended.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter later said: "I wish to express extreme sorrow and extend our condolences to the Ivorian football community and, most importantly, to family, friends and loved ones following the tragic deaths in Abidjan yesterday."

We at Emmanuel TV and The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations pray that God will comfort the nation in her loss. We pray for those that lost family and friends in this tragic event, that they will find consolation and communion with Christ by faith in His Word. We thank God for this prophetic message and the call to pray. We know that without the prayer for protection, the outcome would have been far worse.
